Back Story:
Being a journalist has its perks. It gave me access to this wonderful exhibition taking place at Kalakriti Art Gallery, Hyderabad. With butterflies in my stomach, I reached the venue. Collected the press release, my mind focused to do justice to the gorgeous chromolithographs and oleographs on display. I was so impressed with the organizational skills of the curator and the team at Kalakriti for putting up this amazing exhibition with so many details. As a student of history and admirer of creative arts covering this exhibition became a treat. The tension melted away as I looked into those beautiful chromolithographs and oleographs by Raja Ravi Varma and his lesser-known contemporaries. Researcher Arko Prabha Bose's detailed explanations of each work made writing this article easier. (the information provided was extensive) Found out that this person can speak in a single breathe much as I do. Soon we are speaking in our mother tongue and exchanging ideas. I attended this event from beginning to end and was reluctant to leave the gallery. This is one of those pieces that fills me with happiness and pride. Yet, I still believe so much more could have been done given the information I had! (the reason why word count make writers cry)
I thank Wow Hyderabad for their trust in me and the opportunity to cover these unique events. It was for Wow I became a Hyderabadi with scant knowledge of Telugu.
